Policies

Clear terms, without unnecessary friction.

These draft policies keep the buying process simple and protect HarkHouse as a specialist retailer: orders are subject to stock confirmation, delivery is charged sensibly, and returns must come back unused and saleable. Statutory rights are not affected.

Draft for review before launch; not legal advice.

Customer terms

Shipping, returns, tax and order policy

Orders and acceptance

Website listings are invitations to enquire or order, not guaranteed offers of stock. An order is accepted only when HarkHouse confirms availability and either sends written confirmation or captures payment through Stripe Checkout.

HarkHouse may decline or cancel an order before acceptance where stock, pricing, supplier availability, delivery practicality or compliance checks make fulfilment unsuitable.

Prices and payment

Prices are shown in pounds sterling where known. Errors may be corrected before order acceptance. Delivery charges, special-order costs or non-mainland supplements are confirmed before payment.

Payment should be made through the secure checkout route supplied by HarkHouse. Goods remain the property of HarkHouse until paid for in full.

Shipping

UK delivery is quoted or confirmed at checkout. Free shipping over £40 may be offered where practical, but bulky, remote-area, insured, export or special-order shipments may be quoted separately.

Delivery dates are estimates, not guarantees. Risk passes to the customer when goods are delivered to the address or collection point provided.

Returns

Please contact HarkHouse before returning anything. Standard stock items bought online may be returned within 14 days of receipt if unused, unworn, undamaged, with labels and packaging intact and in saleable condition.

Unless the item is faulty or misdescribed, the customer is responsible for return postage, insurance and safe packing. Refunds may be reduced where handling goes beyond what is necessary to inspect the item.

Special orders and sizing

Items ordered specially from a supplier, altered, personalised or sourced outside normal stock may be non-cancellable and non-returnable where the law permits. HarkHouse will flag this before payment wherever it applies.

Customers are responsible for checking measurements and intended use. HarkHouse will give practical guidance, but fit preferences remain subjective.

Faults and statutory rights

If goods arrive faulty, damaged or materially misdescribed, contact HarkHouse promptly with photographs and order details. HarkHouse will repair, replace, refund or otherwise resolve the issue as required by UK consumer law.

Nothing in these terms limits statutory rights.

Tax and customs

UK prices include applicable VAT where HarkHouse is required to charge it. Export customers are responsible for import duty, VAT, customs fees and local compliance unless agreed otherwise in writing.

Privacy and cookies

HarkHouse uses customer details only to answer enquiries, process orders, arrange delivery, handle returns and keep necessary business records. Payment data is handled by Stripe, not stored by this static website.

Only essential or low-impact cookies/local browser storage should be used unless further cookie consent is added before launch.

Retailer position

Practical, conservative operating assumptions.

The policy avoids promising automatic stock, fixed delivery dates or unconditional returns beyond statutory requirements. It gives HarkHouse room to confirm price, stock, delivery and special-order status before taking payment.

Before launch

Have the policy checked against the final business setup, VAT position, fulfilment method and any special-order arrangements with Rascher or other suppliers.
